Ganga Aarti
Millions of tourists and ardent devotees from all over the globe visit Rishikesh to experience the divine magic of Ganga Aarti, a ritual performed by several groups of priests every evening to offer their prayers to the holy river Ganges. An enchanting alliance of sound, lights and the holy chants, the aarti leaves one overwhelmed.
Parmarth Niketan
Parmarth Niketan, a prominent ashram near Ram Jhula in Rishikesh is well known for its Ganga Aarti and attracts thousands of people every evening. Just a 10 minute walk from Ayurveda Sadan, it is a sight to behold.
Temple Treks
Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, 1330 metres from sea level, is a 14 kilometre trek from Rishikesh often visited by tourists for its religious significance and stunning mountains and forests views. Kunjapuri temple, another popular trekking destination, involves ascend of 290 stairs and is a four hours trek from Rishikesh.
Triveni Ghat
Triveni Ghat, located in the centre of Rishikesh and famous for taking a holy dip for soul-purification, is a popular destination for Ganga Aarti and is just a 10 minutes ride from Ayurveda Sadan.
Lakshman Jhula
Lakhsman Jhula is a spectacular 450 feet long suspension bridge built across river Ganga in 1939 and is named after Lakhsman, Lord Rama's brother. A sight to behold, it is very close to Lakshman Temple at Tapovan and just 10 minutes drive from Ayurveda Sadan.
Ram Jhula
An architectural marvel, Ram Jhula holds great religious importance and is a must-visit by all tourists. Sharing close proximity to popular ashrams such as Geeta Bhawan and Swarg Ashram, the jhula is merely 10 minutes walk from Ayurveda Sadan.
Nilkanth Mahadev
Located at 1330m from sea level, this is a historical temple of Lord Shiva. As per the "Samudra Manthan" legend, Gods churned the sea to obtain nectar and in the process poison was also churned out. This poison was then consumed by Lord Shiva in this temple which gave a blue colour to his throat, hence the name Nilkanth (Nil= Blue, Kanth = Throat). The temple is 31 kilometres from Rishikesh and the route can also be traversed by a 14 kilometres adventure trek.
Rishikesh, a most tranquil place in northern Uttarakhand, surrounded by hills and bisected by the wide and sluggish Ganges, is often claimed as the `Yoga Capital of the World’. Back in the 1960s Rishikesh gained instant fame as the site where The Beatles came to stay with their guru, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It is an excellent place to meditate and study yoga. Rishikesh is also a good starting Laxman Jhula point for treks to Himalayan pilgrimage centres such as Badrinath, Kedarnath , Gangotri, Yamnotri.It is rightly called the gateway to the Himalayan Shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. 7 Story Temple Situated 24 km upstream from Haridwar, at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga.
